1. There is a High Failure Rate for Direct Mail Marketing:
The failure rate for direct mail marketing is very high. A lot of people usually end up with a loss rather than an increase from mail marketing. For the many reasons out there, the people just either do not respond or even bother to open and read your ads. One thing you have to understand is that direct mail marketing is there to build new relationships and get the word out about your business. It is to get your business out there so that hopefully people will recognize your company.
2. Failure is Likely with Non-Targeted Direct Mail Marketing :
If you go about with just sending your ad out to a local direct mail advertising company you will reach some potential consumers in the community. However the majority of people who you will not affect are much larger. When you go about that route you reach a lot of people but the likeliness of them being interested and/or responding is very slim. You do not want to just send out your ads to just anybody, rather you want to be able to target the people that you want.
3. Evaluation of Direct Mail Marketing:
After creating a mail marketing campaign and sending them out, you as a leader want to be able to track it. You want to be able to track the success rate to see if it was worthwhile. The main problem is that it is very difficult to track. A few ways that you can track it is if you offer coupons or have people do questionnaires. Now we all know that people don’t really like to do questionnaires and coupons at best are fairly used. But at least with these options you can gather the outcomes so you can generate an accurate evaluation.
4. One of the Most Inexpensive Ways to Advertise:
Direct Mail Marketing is definitely useful for all kinds of businesses but it is how you go about with the procedures that determine the success. You have to come up with a well thought out plan and take in the time to develop it in order for success. In all, sending out ads in the mail is one of the least expensive ways to advertise. However, internet advertising through search engine optimization can be much more profitable and effective for every dollar you spend.
